A wood tornado! This is an apt description of this award winning staircase—whether viewed from the top or the bottom of its fifty three risers. The handrail and treads are made of walnut and the balusters are wrought iron. The underside of the stairs was plastered and the outer edge was given extra weight to highlight and give definition to the stair’s upward path. When viewed from below, it is this plastered edge detail plus the continuous handrail that give a bit of drama and lend a sculptural quality to this beautiful spiral staircase. |
